Dream Act 2021: Advocacy Opportunity
Advocacy Opportunity:
Sign-on to Support the Dream Act! A group of Dreamers and alumni from TheDream.US are writing to the Senate in support of the Dream Act of 2021, and they are asking for your support. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, and all allies are invited to sign the letter and share it with your networks. The letter will be sent this week, but the deadline to sign-on is rolling. You can read the letter and sign-on here: Link to Form
Eyes on the Senate:
Immigration Reform in Congress. Last week the House passed the American Dream and Promise Act (H.R.6) for the second time, which would provide a path to citizenship for recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED).
Now we turn to the Senate, where the Presidents’ Alliance is fighting an uphill battle with Congress members and unexpected advocates to achieve the necessary 60 votes to either pass the Dream Act of 2021 or include it in a bipartisan package. As a reminder, the Presidents’ Alliance has developed a template letter for you to send to your Senators urging the passage of the Senate Dream Act and broader reform. They also developed a template letter to Congress for institutions to use in support of the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. Link to Template Letter for House or Senators
